Supporting a successful transition to adulthood for students with additional needs
Our schools programme provides an outdoor opportunity for school and college students aged 16-19 with learning disabilities and autism to widen their social networks, act within a working environment and understand the habits and culture that accompany a workplace. While doing this, students are developing the social skills, self-confidence and sense of responsibility they need to make a successful transition from school to adulthood.
The programme supports students’ progress towards a vocational, accredited qualification that evidences their skills and demonstrates their abilities – hopefully to future employers. Students from Mabel Prichard School have been coming to the farm for four years, and in this current academic year we are running a programme for Mabel Prichard students alongside students from Endeavour Academy.
Students work alongside our co-farmers on a range of activities. Each half-term we go as a group to one of our Outreach locations.
