Farms offer a stimulating and sensory environment where engaging in meaningful, farm activities can transform people’s experiences of learning and significantly improve their capacity to build new skills. We see the positive benefit that farming life brings to people’s health and well-being, and we are passionate about increasing access to farm activities through our programmes.
Currently, FIT runs two programmes: FarmAbility, which is a day service for adults with autism and learning disabilities, and the Outdoor Classroom, which provides educational visits to the farm for school children.
FIT is based on FAI (Food Animal Initiative) Farms in Wytham. FAI Farms is a subsidiary of the Benchmark Holdings plc group of companies. It is a beautiful, 1,900-acre organic livestock farm located five miles from the centre of Oxford.
